Thai Style Basil Chicken

The Best of the Easiest Dish Ever!

This Thai Style dish is one of the easiest dish to prepare. With just a few ingredients and a short cooking time, this chicken dish should be on the table in less than 10 minutes for you to enjoy. This recipe should be good enough for 2 to 3 people. But I am sure, you may eat a little more than your share, I myself cannot just eat one serving, so maybe good for two. Thai Basil Chicken is one of my favorite dish at any Thai Restaurant for years. But sometimes, I just want it NOW and in 10 minutes I’d be chowing down one in front of the TV. Great any time of the day. This could also be a Keto Diet Dish, just don’t add sugar (use Stevia instead) and use a lettuce wrap instead of Rice.

Thai Style Basil Chicken

1 tsp Soy sauce

2 tsp Oyster sauce

1 tsp Fish Sauce

½ tsp Sugar

2 to 4 Thai Red Chili Pepper (chopped) if you want more heat, just add more chili.

1 cup of Chopped Basil Leaves (fresh) about 4 stems (don’t add stems), Thai Basil is preferred, but if not available, regular basil will work as well, still gives it that aroma.

4 cloves of minced Garlic

2 pieces of Chicken Leg Meat Grounded or Chopped to tiny pieces

(store bought ground chicken is okay if you don’t want to chop your own)

Chicken fat from the leg meat (optional)

Note: May want to open some windows for ventilation as the chili might be too overpowering when sauteing.

1. Mix the soy, oyster, fish sauce and sugar in a small bowl.

2. Heat a pan to Medium Heat with about a tablespoon of vegetable oil.

3. Add the Chicken fat (optional) for more chicken flavor, saute and remove before you burn the fat, you just want to extract the fatty oil from the chicken fat for more flavoring.

4. Saute the garlic and chopped red chili until the garlic gets slightly brown, about 1 to 2 minutes. Be sure not to burn them, the chili aromatic may become too strong, so be sure to ventilate kitchen well.

5. Add the ground Chicken and saute until it’s slightly brown.

6. Add the Sauce Mixture, rinse bowl with about 2 tablespoon of water, add and stir well to mix. Simmer and cover for 3 minutes.

7. Uncover and allow sauce to reduce slightly for about 1 to 2 minutes.

8. Give a piece of chicken a taste to check for doneness, then add the chopped Basil, stir, mix well and then turn off heat (the basil should cook fast).

9. Plate and serve over Rice and garnish with a side of sliced cucumber (this will neutralize the spiciness of the dish).

10. Enjoy!!!
