2 lbs chopped chuck steak beef
Seasoned in Salt an pepper
1/4 cup of flour
5 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 whole onion (chopped)
⅓ cup light soy sauce
⅓ cup worcestershire sauce
3 chopped carrots
3 chopped potatoes
3 stalks of Celery diced
2 diced tomatoes
1 can of 8 oz tomato sauce
2-3 beef bouillon cubes
3 cups of water
For thickening sauce only (Slurry)
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of water
1. Using a Instant Pot or Quick Pressure Cooker, set it on Saute and add a little vegetable oil.
2. In the meantime, season the meat with salt and pepper and lightly coat the meat with flour.
3. Test the pot if hot enough by sizzling a couple of drop of water, if it sizzle then add the meat.
4. Place the meat in one layer, do not over crowd the pot so you can sear all sides, if the meat doesn’t fit, then sear in bunches. Place seared meat aside and cook another batch. Add a little more oil if necessary. This is the most important step in this dish is the searing, it will seal in the juices and the meat will be tender but not falling apart.
5. Once all the meat are browned, add the garlic and onion and tossed with the seared meat.
6. Then add the soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, water with bouillon.
7. Cover the Instant Pot or Pressure cooker and set for the Beef Setting about 30 minutes.
Remember it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to build pressure, before cooking begins. So, that’s approximately 40 to 45 minutes total.
8. When the timer goes off, release the pressure (about 2 minutes) and open the pot.
9. Add the rest of the vegetables, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, celery, stir the toppings and not the meat. If you are okay with MSG, you can add just about a teaspoon.
10. Cover and pressure cook at the Vegetables setting (about 6 to 8 minutes)
11. When timer goes off, release the pressure and remove cover, add a slurry of cornstarch and water (about 1 heaping tablespoon of cornstarch and a tablespoon of water in a small bowl) to thicken the sauce, while in Saute Mode ( approximately 4 minutes).
12. Season with a little more salt and pepper if necessary.
13. When the sauce is thickened turn off Instant pot or Pressure cooker.
14. Plate and Serve over rice. Enjoy!
